"This is a result of not completely covering the liquid at start and termination points with aggregate which results in the roller plucking loose aggregate from the surface."

I'm not sure about the Angus Glen laneways, but there was no roler on site in Cornell when the tar and chip was laid down.

It would appear that the preservation surface was not properly applied as it was never rolled. If this is the case then the Markham Contract to coplete the work would have a clause in it that requires the installer to facilitate repairs , at thier own expence, if the installation was not done in the manner perscribed in the original contract.

Removing the "tar clumps" and returning the laneways to original or "like original" condition is start. However, what is being done about the excess rubble that my car tracks into my garage on a regular basis? I'm all for repaving the laneways (although wasn't sure it was necessary) - but had no interest in having the floor of my garage paved in the process. Are others having this problem?

We were unable to attend the meeting at Angus Glen but have joined the association. We would like to find out what is happening regarding the laneways, the snow is gone and the mess is awful. Where can I read about an update.
Thanks

I concur with the comments made and the fine letter from Tony Gill to the Editor of the Economist ans Sun. It is obvious that the Town is unwilling to do anything to correct this and time for the Residents of Angus Glen to stand up and make a big issue out of this.
A petition? Resurface the front of the Mayor's home?

Cheers

To the concerned residents of Angus Glen,

I commend you on your swift response to the ridiculous road resurfacing fiasco that has recently plagued our neighbourhoods. In case you haven't heard, the city, in all it's brilliance, has quietly and with absolutely zero notice initiated this "road preservation" treatment in Cornell Village as well. I have included a link to the Cornell Village forum where you will see unanimous disapproval of this so-called best practice.

As stated in several entries on this forum, the city did not follow procedure regarding prior notice and never engaged the community in a discussion about the potential for this fairly permanent pilot project. It is absolutely laughable that we will have to wait 2 years for the city to review the situation and assess the success or failure of the treatment.

I am not sure if the Cornell Rate Payers Association has contacted our newly elected Counciller Colin Campbell or even Mayor Scarpitti but based on the response on our forum, the residents are quite disappointed. Ideally, we should band together on this matter as this problem really is Markham wide. We will monitor your forum and I will contact the CRPA.

I am completely disgusted with the recent so called pavement restortaion program on the laneways in Angus Glen.
The laneway now resembles a country road, complete with loose gravel, dust and stone chips.
Although I do not have young children, the laneway is used for the safe play of children and now it will not be possible for these children to ride their bikes or other activities without risking injury if they slip on the loose gravel.
In short it is a failed experiment, that was not communicated to the community with the opportunity to discuss and to review other similar projects and must be corrected immediately.
Regards
